Atlanta Corporate Fight Night

I'm Terri Moss, I promote an amateur Corporate Fight Night boxing show here in Atlanta. One of the bouts on the card fell out and I'm trying to fill it because he has sponsorship funds behind him. The boxer is out of Raleigh NC and is coming to ATL for the show. He has had one fight, 35 years old, no prior amateur experience before masters. The weight can be anywhere from 185 to heavyweight (he's about 195). It will be in Atlanta on June 7th with the weigh in June 6th. This show is conducted like a black tie professional boxing show, its very nice. If you would like the match you will have to sign a contract as each participant is required to raise money for their bout (charity match), though that will not be required of you. This will be my 5th show. For more information about ACFN go to these locations:
http://corporatefightnight.com/

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Atlanta-Corporate-Fight-Night/186936014663091

Feel free to call for more information as well.
WEIGHT CLASSES FOR TOURNAMENTS

Hello,

I have a question about the weight classes for some of the Masters tournaments (Gleasons, Ringside, etc). For a multi day tournament, are the weigh ins done each day before the match, or just the first day before the first match? For those that cut weight to make a certain weight class, maintaining that over a 2 or 3 day period of a tournament sounds like a lot, as compared to just having to make it for the first weigh in.

Thanks,

Bradley

Forum: Need To Know About Masters

COMPETITION BLOOD TESTS

Hello, just checking to see what blood work is required for the different Masters boxing competitions for communicable diseases etc. Are the requirements a state by state type thing, or does each individual event require such a test. Looking at posted registrations that I see online for some of the events, I do not see any information on this.

If a test is required to compete, where do most go to get the test? I would assume a local lab or doctors office, or is there a set form of what is required so that I can take that to my doctor, so I know what tests to ask for. Also, how long is the test good for, since I am sure the test fee is probably quite expensive?

Thanks for any information,

Bradley

Forum: Need To Know About Masters

Open sparring session - Masters only SO CAL

Hey everyone, I am very new to this, just started boxing November 2011. I belong to a gym now.

I am wondering if any of you would be interested in getting together for open sparring sessions for masters only in the LA area. It would definitely be open to masters only, 40 yrs old and over ideally. It definitely would be friendly sparring, with parameters strictly set based on your skill level and comfort zone.

It's just an idea for now, but I can probably find a gym that would open it's doors. I know for most of us who train as masters, it's hard to find sparring partners that's actually our age in our own gyms. I think it would be fun and safe to be able to get together with other masters in the LA area, maybe once or twice a month for open sparring.

If you are interested, reply to this thread, or you can pm me as well.

If there's enough interest, then I can probably start the leg work.

Thanks

Forum: Supporting Masters Boxing Gyms

Hey everyone, I'm inspired by this group.

I have been a member at some of the hardcore boxing gyms

In Los Angeles, New York and San Diego but don't get much

Individual instruction. The attitude at the gyms seems to be either you must be either very young and a pro contender or pay lots of money to get good training. I do martial arts too and get more boxing instruction from kickboxing classes then from the boxing gym. Anyone have any advice? I don't want to pay a gym just to do things I can do at home like hit a bag. There s sparring available at times and I do ok with itbut I need help with improving technical skills.
Forum: Introducing....
