Reply with quote | #1 | I recently spoke with the New Jersey Association of USA Boxing President who said that if I could find some master boxers he would be willing to find an event for us to compete.
If anyone is interested in competing please let me know the quicker we become organized the faster I can give him the information.
Thank You |

I'm definitely be interested in competing. I know of at least five other guys that would like to compete as well... they range in weights from welter weight up to Super Heavy and I do mean SUPER Heavy!

Thats good news please let me know what age, weightclass, and record for each boxer. Plus if they have a valid USA boxing passbook.
Thanks

Reply with quote | #4 | I'll send an e-mail out to all the Master Boxers that I know of in New York, New Jersey, Philly, Maryland and Florida to hopefully give you the response you are looking for. Manny |

Herc,
Some of the masters at my gym in Morris County are interested. Is there any potential date (at least time frame) or location when and where this event will take place?
It would be good to see the Garden State take the lead in the Masters Dvision.

I am meeting with the president of NJ USA Boxing this week he has assured me that if we can get at least 5 bouts he would organize an event for us.
In respect to time and place that is yet to be determined, however I will be lobbying for end of May beginning of June and searching for a place that would be willing to host the event.
In regards to preparation one should continue to train as if they are preparing for a bout because you never know when a masters event will be available. Plus, if anyone is going to either the Ringside World Championships or Title National Boxing Championships this is a great way to get a tune up match before traveling to the big show.
Please feel free to contact me via email or posts if you have any questions or comments that will help get this event off the ground.
Thanks

Reply with quote | #7 | I think it is a great idea, here is my two cents. First I would look at other events that will take place that might affect the date that you might consider. For example, Gleason's is having an event May 16th. I'm not sure but there is a time from when one competes there is a specific amount of time before you compete again. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I would contact gyms in New Jersey and ask if they have Master Boxers in their gym as well as New York, Philly and so on. I think you would get a good response. Check the boxers page on the http://www.mastersboxingdivision.com website and e-mail the Masters located in these states as well. If I can do anything to help please let me know.
