You have to get a physical first by a doctor declaring you fit to box and then you send for your Masters passbook?

What weight divison has the most active master boxers?

And which divison would you say has the most talent?

I would really like to compete in this years Ringside tournament but I wouldn't want to fly all the way to Kansas just to fight one time. And
I would really like to compete against the best master boxers so that is why I ask these questions. Thanks for answering.

It is hard to say what weight division has the most talent for a few reasons. First, it is bracketed by, weight, age and experience. There are very good fighters in all the age and weight classes and by far you have the most chance in fighting the best at Ringside. There where over 80 Master boxers competing last year and that is the biggest gathering anywhere. I understand the concern in only boxing once so my suggestion is keep in contact with Dave at Ringside to update you on how many are competing in your age, weight and experience bracket. This is also a reason why I created the Boxers page on the main website so you can take a look at some of the Masters in your division.

What are your stats and experience?

Had about 9/10 AM bouts(can't remember the exact amount)

6' 1" and fighting at 141?!? wow that seems like a VERY low weight to fight at for that height!

for your age group (35-45), 141 & 152 should both be pretty competitive

i was told that last year there were approximately 7-8 guys at 141 (most were in the blue) and approx 8-10 at 152

2008 results:

Thanks for the quick answers.I used to weigh in at 126lbs when I was younger.

As far as my physical is concerned I take that first and then send for my book?

from what i understand, there is a physical form that USA boxing has & you need an M.D. (not a PA-C, M.O., etc, must be M.D.) to give you your physical...you'll need to have your physical, your 2 passbook photos, a copy of your birth certificate, the athlete membership application form, and your $35 check to USA Boxing

Here is form. My lbc does not require this but it makes it easier for you and your doctor.

Good luck.

Thanks to everyone for the quick answers but I am confused.I know I have to get that form filled out by my doctor prior to sending in my paperwork for my passbook. But now I have heard that you have to also have your doctor ssign your passbook as well. How long does it take them to get your passbook to you?
I have my old passbook-could I just get that renewed(along with the doctors note)
or should I just submit paperwork  for a new passbook  since I am now in the Masters division?

You have to renew your passbook every year. Yes, your docor has to sign your passbook. Call your Local Boxing Commission to speed up the process.

I think Felix is right.  In the first year, the doctor already filled out the "fit to box" form in order for you to get a passbook, so there's no need to take it back to them to sign it.  After the first year, then the doctor has to sign it to prove you've had another physical.

I just received my passbook last week. It came with a note from the head of my lbc (Arizona) reminding me that my doctor had to sign the book on pg3 before I could box.
